About Us

Disability Engagement Services (DES) is a dedicated organisation based in North Devon, passionately committed to empowering adults with learning disabilities. Our aim is to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where individuals can explore their passions, develop essential life skills, and find a sense of belonging within a supportive community.

At DES, we work with a variety of local companies who provide us with a diverse range of departments, including woodworking, design and media, farming, horticulture and hospitality. Through these engaging activities, our students discover their strengths, gain confidence, and foster lifelong friendships. Our dedicated team work tirelessly to provide personalised support, ensuring each individual's unique journey is filled with opportunities for growth, independence, and self-expression.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an inclusive and empowering environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and discover their true potential. Through person-centered support and a nurturing community, we aim to celebrate the unique abilities of each individual, breaking down barriers and championing a world where inclusion and equality are embraced. We aspire to help our students to lead fulfilling lives, build lasting connections, and inspire positive change within themselves and the broader community.

Our Vision

We envision a world where people of all abilities are celebrated and valued. A society where barriers are replaced with opportunities, and each individual's unique talents shine brightly. Through fostering a culture of inclusivity, creativity and understanding, we seek to have a transformative impact, igniting a movement of acceptance and appreciation for diverse abilities. We are working towards a future where everyone is encouraged to reach their full potential and has the opportunity contribute meaningfully to a more compassionate and inclusive world.

The image shows two men leaning over a table, concentrating on something of interest. The man on the left, wearing glasses and a black jacket, is closely inspecting what appears to be a smartphone or small tablet on the table, possibly choosing art supplies from the container full of pens and markers in front of him. The man on the right, also in a black jacket, is pointing at something on the table, giving guidance or expressing an opinion. The setting looks informal, possibly a workshop or a casual meeting space, with a focus on collaboration or learning.
